THE MONSTERS

When Hell was a barren wasteland, Ylva, a human, yielded magic to fill it with all sorts of animal life. She also discovered that human souls (tier 3) can be replicated too, and created these distinctly non-human but completely sapient people.

"Created" dates refers to in-universe creation. I am not a secret immortal.

Colored sketch of Lucy. She is a cyclops woman with a pink complexion and darker pink hair. Her singular eye is blue and she has no nose. She is wearing a short shirt dress with a white apron and high heels.

Lucy Polyphemus

Created September 13th, 1589

The very first monster. She maintains a high confidence and self-absorbtion to mask her insecurities. After several failed career venues, the final straw being ballet, she decided to resign herself to the only she was ever good at: cleaning. Cleaning her small house over and over again was driving her mad, so Ylva sent her to live at the castle and clean that instead. She and Diana developed a close friendship as a result, and Lucy has taken on a royal advisor position as well as being the housemaid.

Colored sketch of Lilith. She is a short, humanoid shaped being of pure magic. She is pitch black with white eyes being her only distinct features. She appears to have short curly hair, and her body seems cloudy. She is wearing a short tan dress and a bright, red, hooded cloak.

Lilith Derwood

Created October 10th, 1600

Her body is made of pure magic, which has a pitch-black and cloudy appearance. He can look however she wants, and he prefers a small and cutesy-looking body both out of personal preference, and because humans find it less intimidating. Not shy, but an introvert who spends most of their time at home deep in the woods. A lover of nature, she enjoys foraging and hunting her own food. While their house does have power, they prefer to minimize the amount of technology they have to use. The most high-tech device she owns is a landline phone.

Since her body is made of pure magic, anyone with any magical capabilities could take control of her, or even destroy her body outright. Fortunately, this is not a well-known fact.

Colored sketch of Valentine. She is a harpy woman with a pale human face, bird legs and talons, and winged arms. Her feathers, which surround her face and cover all her head and back, are light brown with darker brown edges. She is wearing a sleeveless pink shirt and a blue wrap skirt.

Valentine Harp

Created April 14th, 1818

Mean, shallow, and self absorbed. She says and does whatever she wants. Adopted the valley girl aesthetic on purpose, but she's far from the "dumb blonde" type. After her messy breakup with Lucy, she went into law school to prove her intelligence, and genuinely fell in love with the work. Her continued success in her pursuits enrages Lucy to this day.

Colored sketch of Hunter. She is a werewolf with dark gray fur and yellow eyes. She is wearing a red flannel over a white t-shirt and jean shorts. Her clothes have small tears in various places.

Hunter Volkov

Created August 26th, 1831

Ylva calls her a "reverse werewolf," meaning she turns human in the light of the full moon (which she hates). A slob, glutton, and a lover of chaos with a criminal record of arson. Despite her usual laziness, her favorite hobby is hunting her own food, venizen being her favorite meat. Best friends with Valentine, who has let Hunter park her trailer behind her house for years now (though initially out of pity).

Colored sketch of KnickKnack. They are a robotic clown of two heads. The left head, Knick, is round and white with pointed features and pink and yellow makeup. The right head, Knack, is a squarish purple and black mask with rounded features and makeup of the same colors. They are wearing a magician's tuxedo with a large bow in pink and black. Knick is also wearing a small top hat, while Knack is wearing a small crown.

Knick and Knack

Created May 15th, 1875

One (or two?) of the oddballs of monsters as they weren't created by Ylva at all. They were made by a roboticist who stole a conjoined soul Nephthys was keeping for observation. Ylva, refusing to ever destroy life, has since adopted the eccentric duo as monsters. Knick (round face) is an energetic jokester with a fondness for slapstick and low-brow humor. Knack (pointed face) plays the straight-man to Knick, preferring more refined comedy and is a bit of a snob. They also both have an interest in "fake" magic, ranging from card tricks to Tarot, but real magic in the form of Animmancy is what made their shows famous.

Colored sketch of Sybil. An exetremely pale woman with shaved white hair and red eyes (both in sclera and iris). Her arms, hands, legs, and feet appear veiny and red with exposed muscle tissue. She also has patches of this tissue scattered across her body and taking up most of her face. She has two eyes on the right side of face, and one on the left. The latter has strabismus and is stuck staring off towards the bottom left.

Sybil Body

Created November 9th, 1939

One night while Ylva was tossing and turning, she dreamt of a battle she had long ago. She was suddenly wounded, and collapsed behind a barricade with a large gash in her side. Suddenly, a mass of flesh crawled out from the wound. When she awoke, she was holding it in her arms. The flesh formed into a humanoid body, and Sybil was born.

Sybil has an intense fascination with human biology. This, combined with her ability to manipulate the bodies of others with her own on a micro scale (blocking nerve signals, gathering information from the blood akin to a blood test, temporarily filling the gaps of large wounds, etc) makes her a fantastic assitant/nurse to Dr. Chopin. However, her gory appearance combined with her poor social skills often makes her come off as creepy and obsessive, leading to social isolation. She struggles to maintain relationships outside of monsters and is deeply lonely, which tends to lead her into the "wrong" social circles.
